NOTES

Hot Spring Action Across Galveston Bay

Galveston Bay - Chambers, TX

Spring is firing up here in Galveston, and the bite is on! Capt. Pierce Ledet and his clients have been finding steady action across the bays and nearshore waters.

Speckled trout are active over shell beds and deeper potholes, especially during early morning and late evening tides. Live shrimp under popping corks and soft plastics have been the go-to setups for consistent catches. Some solid trout in the 20–24” range are showing up!

Redfish have been schooling along marsh edges and grass lines. Capt. Pierce reports that gold spoons and cut mullet are working great for slot-sized reds. On calm days, sight casting has been an exciting option, with fish cruising shallow flats.

Flounder are starting to pick up, especially around sandy pockets and drains. Clients jigging Gulp! baits or slow-rolling soft plastics are pulling in some nice flatties.

Nearshore trips have been producing bull reds, black drum, and the occasional shark for anglers wanting a heavier tug on the line. The action has been reliable, making it a great time to get out on the water.

The weather has been mostly cooperative, with light winds and warming temperatures creating prime fishing conditions. As we move deeper into spring, Capt. Pierce expects the bite to get even better, with more bait flooding the bays and bigger fish moving into easy range.
